DEVON’S PRIORITIES

Ensuring top-tier classroom instruction by developing a new district strategic plan centered on student learning and measurable outcomes;
Adopting a new math curriculum that better prepares students for success in high school, college, careers, and beyond; and,
Strengthening after-school enrichment and academic programming by aligning it more closely with classroom learning.

Supporting teachers through deeper collaboration and professional development around academic standards, assessment, and instructional practices to improve student learning;
Offering competitive compensation to attract and retain the highest quality staff; and,
Continuing to support workforce housing and affordable preschool for teachers and staff.

Building stronger partnerships with our community to make our campuses more climate-resilient and accessible for students and neighbors alike;
Collaborating with the City of Mountain View on programs and services that benefit students, families, and the community; and,
Continuing to work with government, non-profit, and community organizations to bring resources and support to neighborhood schools.

Prioritizing classroom teaching and learning in the district budget;
Budgeting strategically during economic uncertainty to ensure our spending aligns with our revenues; and,
Evaluating policies and programs to guarantee every dollar counts for students, especially our most vulnerable students.
Meet Devon Conley, running for re-election to the Mountain View Whisman School Board.
Devon Conley was first elected to the Mountain View Whisman School Board in 2018. As a national award winning teacher, Devon’s career in education spans the past 24 years and includes working in education policy research and teaching elementary school in San Francisco, San Jose, and Mountain View.
Devon put down roots in Mountain View in 2006. She was previously the Vice Chair of the City of Mountain View’s Parks and Recreation Commission and is currently the President of the Shoreline West Association of Neighbors. Since 2022, she has served on the California School Board Association’s Board of Directors as the Region 20 Director representing Santa Clara County, advocating for students at the State and Federal levels. In 2024, she co-founded and has since served as Deputy Chair of the SUCCESS Collaborative of the Santa Clara County School Board Association, a group focused on making sure unhoused students have the resources and support they need to thrive. She also serves on the Santa Clara County Human Rights Commission.
Devon earned her B.A. in Architecture from Yale, her Masters in City Planning from U.C. Berkeley, and her Masters in Education from Stanford. She is mother to an eighth grader who attends Graham Middle School and a 3 year old.
